Huikka and these terms

Huikka is an app for playing card-based drinking games together, each player on their own phone. It is offered by Patrick Korhonen, a private individual, called "we" in these terms.

By starting to use the app you accept these terms. We handle data as the privacy policy describes.

Adults only

Huikka is meant for adults only. By using the app you confirm that you are at least 18 and allowed to drink alcohol where you live.

Drink responsibly

Drinking is always optional. The app tells you the rules and who drinks, but nobody ever has to drink anything, and every game can be played with non-alcoholic drinks too.

Know your limits, look after the people you play with, and never drive after drinking. Don't drink alcohol if you are pregnant or if your health or medication does not allow it.

If you are worried about your own or someone else's drinking, free and anonymous help is available, for example from the A-Clinic Foundation's Päihdelinkki at paihdelinkki.fi (in Finnish), or from local health services.

You are responsible for your own drinking and its consequences.

Playing

A game is created on one phone, and the others join it with its code. Players see the names each of them gives, so pick a name that offends nobody.

Don't misuse the app or its servers, for example by disrupting other people's games, getting around payments or deliberately overloading the service.

Paid games and the free trial

Pyramid and Rainbow are free. The other games are paid, and they can be bought one at a time or all at once. The All games bundle also includes paid games added later.

Purchases are one-time purchases, not subscriptions. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.

Only the host, the player who creates and starts a game, needs to own it. Everyone else joins for free.

Every paid game can be tried once for free. The trial is used when the host starts the game; creating the game does not use it yet. It is tied to both the phone and the player, so reinstalling the app does not bring it back.

Purchases are made through the App Store or Google Play, and the store's terms apply to them. The store handles payments, receipts and refunds, so refunds and cancellations are requested from the store. Restore purchases in Settings brings your purchases to a new installation.

The service as it is

The games need an internet connection and our servers. We do our best to keep Huikka working, but we cannot promise that it is always available or free of errors. We may change the app and its games, and a game may be interrupted, for example by a network outage.

We are liable only for damage we have caused intentionally or through gross negligence, unless mandatory law requires otherwise. We are not liable for the consequences of drinking or of what players do.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version and the date it was updated can always be read in the app's settings. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the updated terms.

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by Finnish law. They do not limit the rights a consumer has under the mandatory law of the country where they live. A consumer may also take a dispute to the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board, and anyone living in another EU country can ask the European Consumer Centre in their country for advice.
